Ukraine Edges Toward Breakthrough in Counteroffensive Against Russian Occupation
Ukrainian forces are reportedly making significant strides in their counteroffensive to reclaim Russian-occupied territory, leaving President Vladimir Putin grappling with the aftermath of the conflict.

Ukraine's troops are said to be closing in on Novoprokopivka as they push through Russian defenses in southern Ukraine. According to Kyiv Post's correspondent, Jay Jason Smart, a Ukrainian army spokesperson indicated that a substantial breakthrough is imminent.

General Staff warned Moscow

The Ukrainian General Staff announced progress near the village of Novoprokopivka and eastwards near a small settlement named Ocheretuvate. The General Staff warned Moscow that their units are consolidating positions, conducting counter-battery operations, and delivering artillery fire on identified enemy targets.

Liberated Robotyne area holds significance

Strategically, the recently liberated Robotyne area holds significance, positioned just beyond Russia's minefields. It lies approximately 10km south of the frontline town of Orikhiv, on the path to Tokmak – a crucial road and rail hub under Russian occupation. Its capture marks a pivotal step in the counteroffensive's objective to separate Russian forces along the way to the Sea of Azov.

Sea of Azov as their ultimate goals

A Ukrainian commander revealed that the southern forces believe they've breached the most challenging Russian defensive line. "We have passed the main roads that were mined. We are coming to those lines where we can go (forward)," the commander stated. Their sights are set on further progress beyond Robotyne, with Berdiansk and the Sea of Azov as their ultimate goals.

Ukraine will reclaim its seized territories

Ukraine's counteroffensive, targeting the eastern and southern fronts, has gained momentum in recent weeks. The liberation of Urozhaine earlier this month had strategic implications, potentially affecting supply lines for Russian forces. Despite challenges and skepticism, President Volodymyr Zelensky remains resolute in his belief that Ukraine will reclaim its seized territories.
